summer 2009 [chapel hill children’s portrait photography]

Wow.  The summer is a blur.  And I have neglected my blog sadly this past month, but it has been busy busy times here.    Seeing the last days of summer off with a bang I suppose.   Canoeing, hiking, camping, mountain biking, swimming, visiting with grandparents.  All the things summer are for.  The perfect way to spend this last month.  Lots and lots of outside lovin’   That’s where it’s really at for me.    Where I feel most connected and alive. . . so I love that Thomas and Sadie Ellen also seem most in their element outside.   Playing in a stream, hiking, uncovering garden rocks in search of earthworms and ants. . . so often it’s about seeing what they can find. The treasure box has become their signature.  Every time we go for a little hike, we bring along some sort of treasure box.   Sadie Ellen usually fills hers with acorns, a pretty leaf, and always rocks rocks rocks!  Thomas usually finds some sort of live creature to make a home for ~ fireflies, tadpoles, frogs. . . a beautiful orange salamander is the most exotic so far.   The fascination never seems to end. . . and being a part of that is pretty beautiful.   It feels kind of like coming home actually.

I have a ton of pictures from these last few weeks, but I’ll try to keep it brief.
