I love the story these images tell. . . the story of a magical play-date Sadie Ellen had with one of her preschool buddies at the arboretum. We had a surprise tea party with dress-up clothes for afterwards, and it was just one of those absolutely perfect afternoons. After sipping lots of lemonade, they slipped on all different kinds of dress-up concoctions, and they ran, they flew, they danced, they fell. And they laughed and laughed and laughed. The magic of childhood was everywhere, and I think we will all remember that day forever.
We served pink lemonade, so pretty much every single photo at the tea party goes something like this. . . (bottom’s up lol):
And then we got out the dress up clothes:
And then the real characters came out. . .
These are my personal favorites:
And then after exploring the arboretum, they ended with a game of hide and seek.
Sigh. What a special day. When were walking back to the car, I asked Sadie Ellen what her favorite part of the afternoon was. I actually half-expected her answer to be: “the lemonade” lol. But instead, she twirled around, looked up to the sky, and answered: “Twirling around with my friend!!” I could feel her soaring and my heart soared with her. What a gift.
